When introducing two people pump them up to each other with enthusiasm.
Compare these two
“Greg, meet Norm. Norm is in Sales. Norm, this is Greg, he’s in marketing”
versus
“Greg, meet Norm, Norm is one of our best Sales people. He just closed an important deal for us. Norm, this is Greg, I met Greg when he was doing amazing things in the marketing department at Spacely Sprokets”
This is the fastest way to three-way-karma I know of. Think about the two people you’re introducing and what they hear when you make the introduction:
Greg thinks: Wow, Norm must be great. I’m honored to meet him. Rick introduces me to the most interesting people.
Then thinks: That was really great of Rick to tell Norm that I’m amazing! I like Rick.
Norm thinks: Wow, that was really nice of Rick to pump me up in front of Greg. I like Rick.
Then thinks: Hey, Greg sounds like he might be someone I want to meet. Rick introduces me to the most interesting people.
So now you have two people who (a) are looking forward to meeting each other and (b) think you gave them a great introduction.
Fast. Cheap. Simple. Can’t get better than that, huh?
